Ribbons & Medals!

     During a Derby, we all get caught up in the excitement of the Day.  All the people, the Car Show, the Races, and being with Friends.  We all think we will never forget that day, but eventually we do.

     Not to worry!  Twenty-five years after the Derby, you are going through your box of Treasures and there is that Participation Ribbon with your name and date on the back.  The memories of the Pinewood Derby all come alive!  Then you see the Lapel Pin that you wore on your shirt that day, and on your uniform all year.  Then you find the Medal you won for the "Best Kid-Painted Car".  (Some of the dads applied 50 coats of high gloss lacquer.)  Your Car had a few drips and runs of paint on it, but you painted it yourself, and you got an award for it. 

     When planning your Derby, try to give awards to everyone.  Every child that enters a Derby needs to go home with something.
